My Blog

Take this journey with me

  • Hello

    Blog day 1

Awaken? What are you talking about Lil Jenn???

Awaken or un-programming! These words may be uncomfortable for you to say out loud.  Maybe you think of a movie you watched like the Matrix, haha.  Something in you must be resonating with these words because you are here in search of something.  Our paths are crossing for a reason, and I am excited to connect!

When I entered my 40’s, I was faced with the single most terrifying moment of my life. I had to face my biggest fear.  All my beliefs and, what I call life” programming” had taught me that this single event should be avoided at all costs. It should be avoided at even the cost of losing who I really am.

Prior to this moment, I knew my roles in life well and would spout them off if asked to describe myself.  I was a mother, a daughter, the younger sister, an engineer, a hockey player and a lifetime athlete.  This, on the surface, seems like a wonderfully “normal” and successful existence.

BUT I had this continuous nagging feeling inside that I was to achieve or accomplish something great and unique to me.  I had this concept that I should have a purpose and a talent, but it was always just outside of my comprehension.  Very frustrating and unsettling.  I remember going to church and crying every time I stepped into the building.  Even church was not giving me the guidance I was desperate to receive.

This single event in my life, facing my biggest fear, has put me on an incredible journey of un-programming and recreating my life!  I would like to share this journey with you.  I do not want you to have to face your biggest fear in order to start your journey so here I am here to share.

Weekly, I will be writing about my real time developments and setbacks with this journey.  PLEASE join me.

  • Self Love

Three steps to improving your self-love.  It’s that easy!

The single and most important core belief you have is the one that defines your degree of self-worth and self-love.

Most women and people I talked to all claim that they love themselves and that they have joy inside.  It seems that many people do not understand true self-love and have no understanding of their core beliefs on their self-worth.  Maybe it is too engrained into us to notice?  I also think many people reflect quickly on this topic and think that if they do not do physical harm to themselves that they are self-loving.

I talked to people who lack the ability to trust others in their life and people that were abusing alcohol to escape stress in their lives. They all told me that the loved themselves.   Maybe the word love was not the right way to ask my questions.  Maybe what I meant to ask is “do you absolutely adore yourself as the most amazing person you know?”  “Are you your biggest supporter and do you find fulfillment and peace with in yourself?” Maybe that was the question I should have been asking all these years.

This got me thinking, do I love myself in this way???

For the past two weeks I did the following exercise to really determine if I am I treating myself as the love of my life! I will outline the exercise for you then I will add an account of my last 2 weeks and the things I learned 😊 I’ll link 2 of my favorite videos on this topic to give you more perspective. Enjoy!

What does self-love “look” like every day?

Here is a quick exercise to determine what it would look like if you loved yourself, I mean absolutely adored yourself.  It’s actually very easy to determine.  Sit down and pretend you are living with the love of your life.  Your fantasy partner or your sweetest friend.  Write down what a day would look like if it was their birthday, and you were going to make their day very special.

    1. Make a list of your actions for that day from the moment you wake up till bedtime.
    2. For two weeks implement these actions into your life for yourself. Do not ask anyone to do any of the actions for you or with you.  This is you supporting you.
    3. Each action implemented thank yourself for the sweet actions you showed yourself.   It is funny to do at first but just do it!

    Personal Story:

I did this exercise for the last 2 weeks and boy did I learn a lot about how I treat myself.  I thought of my sweet daughters and pretended it was their birthday.  My short list of things I would do:

Send a wake-up text to celebrate them and say I loved them

When I saw them, I would hug them and kiss them

I would make their favorite tea and put it in the prettiest tea pot with a beautiful glass for breakfast

I would splurge on a nice gift just to see them get excited

I would get their favorite dinner foods and their favorite drinks.

I would use the nice glasses and dishes for them.

I would clean their room, so they felt calm and comfortable in the room.

OK so here is what I started to implement:

I set up an auto text to myself that I receive at 530 am so I see it when I wake up.  It says “Good morning beautiful, I love you and have a wonderful day”

I look in the mirror and tell myself that I love me and that I am open for receiving love and prosperity in my life (my current affirmation).

I started drinking my favorite tea that I had been saving for… never haha, and I thank myself for being so nice to me each day.

I start my daughter’s car every morning, so it is warm when she gets in. I also start my car, so it is warm for when my other daughter gets in.  I started thanking myself for warming the car and I tell myself how awesome I am at taking care of my girls.

It is Valentine’s Day soon and I was thinking about what I would buy me if I adored me.  I have been wanting a perfume from Ulta since December but literally told myself that I was not worth spending all that money on.  It is $75, now mind you I would drop this amount on a takeout dinner for the kids in a heartbeat.  I bought this perfume, and it is sitting and waiting for me to open on Valentine’s Day 😊.

I love champagne and I have been buying the $5.99 bottles for myself and it is so bad that I have to add juice to it.  I ran to the store and got my favorite champagnes, four bottles!  They were 14$ each.  I literally would not spend that on myself.  When I drink it, I thank myself for celebrating me.

After two weeks I am feeling special and loved!

Try it and tell me what you think
